Plugged vent= crushed rib

If the fuel vent becomes blocked, the fuel pump will continue to pull fuel from the tank, buckling the center rib inside the tank and wrinkling the upper skin. Typically, the airplane will become very wing heavy as the skin pulls in, alerting the pilot to switch tanks before the rib is buckled.
